dicompeek is not for clinical diagnosis. Do not use it to make or change decisions about a person's care.
What it is
A convenience tool for looking at a DICOM file and converting it to a picture: to check what a file contains, share an image for discussion or teaching, or debug an export.
What it is not
- It is not a medical device and has not been cleared, approved or certified by the FDA, CE-marking bodies or any other regulator.
- It is not a diagnostic or PACS viewer. It does not apply every display step the standard defines (for example presentation states, overlays, some lookup tables) and it does not calibrate for a clinical display.
- JPG exports are 8-bit, lossy and carry no measurement data. They are not a substitute for the original DICOM.
What to use instead
For diagnosis, planning or monitoring, use viewing software and displays that your hospital or imaging centre has approved for that purpose, and have the images interpreted by a qualified clinician. If you have questions about your own scan, ask the clinician who ordered it.
